RenPy Mute Game Hotkey
A downloadable asset pack
Insert this script into your game to allow players to mute/unmute using a hotkey. The default hotkey is 'M', but it can be modified to whichever key or key combo you like. It also includes a mute indicator.
Ensure that you add and set the path to the mute indicator icon, or delete the mute indicator code, or else the script will crash on mute.
Free to use/repost it however you see fit, even in commercial games.

Install instructions
Edit the script in a text editor/code editor of your choice.
The example game requires the Ren'Py SDK to open, simply include it in your projects folder, or drag the folder on top of the renpy.exe file of the launcher, after extracting the zip file
